Radars: Should you ditch your old "microwave" to switch to Doppler?
Marine radar is undergoing the same shift as TV in 2010: the magnetron — robust but power-hungry, slow to warm up, blind at close range — is giving way to Solid State and Doppler effect. A few watts instead of several kilowatts, instant start, detection from six meters instead of fifty, and a color that immediately shows if a target is approaching. Halo / Fantom / Quantum comparison + the three installation mistakes we fix at the Skysat workshop.
