Skysat no longer distributes the 9555 (obsolete model replaced by the 9575 Extreme — improved IP65 rating + MIL-STD-810F + integrated GPS). The Inmarsat IsatPhone 2 is not sold by Skysat — its geostationary satellite coverage depends on a visible horizon (problematic at high latitudes and near land). The Iridium LEO ecosystem covers 100% of the globe without conditions. For our offshore sailing clientele, it is more relevant.

Yes, provided you have a Roam Global subscription (€50 or €80/month; check the exact coverage area before departure — central Pacific remains partial in 2026). In the Mediterranean and North Atlantic, continuous sea coverage. The Starlink constellation operates in low Earth orbit (~550 km), so throughput remains equivalent to terrestrial use. Real limitation: 12 V power draw (25–50 W), meaning proper wiring and surge protection are mandatory.

The Mini 3 Plus (€348 ex VAT) is more compact (100 g vs 113 g), more physically durable, and has a sunlight-readable color screen. The Messenger Plus (€279 ex VAT) is cheaper, adds short voice notes (2025 new feature), and lasts 28 days on 10-minute tracking vs 14 days for the Mini 3. For solo racing / grab bag: Mini 3. For crewed cruising with family voice notes: Messenger Plus.

The standard GO (€1,143 ex VAT) caps at 2.4 kbps — the speed of a 1990s analog modem. Sufficient for: short text emails, compressed weather GRIB files (XGate, PredictWind), SMS, voice via app. Insufficient for: large attachments, normal web browsing, video calls. The Exec GO (€2,106 ex VAT) runs on Certus 100 (88 kbps DL) = real email with attachments, light web browsing, HD voice. The Certus plan is ~2× more expensive (~€150/month) but offers incomparably better usability. Our workshop recommendation: if you stay at sea 6+ months = Exec GO, otherwise standard GO.

For seasonal use (transatlantic + 3 months cruising then boat ashore): prepay. You load 200 or 500 minutes, which roll over. No inactive monthly subscription. For continuous use (round-the-world, professional charter): postpay with an included monthly allowance, more economical beyond ~50 minutes/month. Skysat distributes both models — we calculate your break-even point when purchasing the terminal.

Skysat does not distribute the Starlink terminal (not part of our current product range — we focus on mature LEO + GEO satellite solutions with professional SLA such as Iridium). However, we supply and install the onboard integration kit: waterproof pass-through Scanstrut DS30 or DS16 depending on cable diameter, high-quality extension cables (8 m or 30 m), 12 V → AC or marine-grade PoE converter for clean power supply.
