Detailed description
Detailed description
The Ocean Signal nautical safety kit combines two of the most advanced distress beacons on the market to ensure comprehensive protection for the vessel and crew. This pack includes the PLB3 personal beacon, the EPIRB3 deck beacon, and a durable carry bag, providing a complete solution for offshore sailing. These next-generation devices simultaneously utilize the Cospas-Sarsat satellite network and the AIS collision-avoidance system to maximize rescue chances, drastically reducing response times.
EPIRB3 technology: vessel safety
The EPIRB3 beacon included in this kit is designed to alert Rescue Coordination Centers (MRCC) via the 406 MHz frequency while broadcasting a local AIS alert to nearby vessels equipped with receivers. Unlike previous-generation models such as the EPIRB1, it integrates the Return Link Service (RLS) function, which visually confirms to the user that the distress signal has been received. Its multi-constellation GNSS receiver (GPS, Galileo, Glonass) ensures meter-level location accuracy. It is supplied with its manual mounting bracket (Category II) for quick installation on a bulkhead.
PLB3 personal beacon: individual protection
The PLB3 is a compact personal distress beacon designed to be attached to a lifejacket. Like the EPIRB3, it combines 406 MHz, 121.5 MHz (homing), and AIS technologies. The integration of AIS is a major improvement over the classic PLB1, as it allows the crew remaining on board to instantly locate a man overboard directly on the chartplotter or multifunction display. The NFC connectivity built into both beacons enables easy battery status and test history checks via the free Ocean Signal mobile app.
A complete pack for survival at sea
By combining the EPIRB3 for vessel abandonment and the PLB3 for man-overboard situations, this kit covers all critical distress scenarios. The supplied grab bag allows these vital devices to be grouped with other safety equipment (portable VHF, flares, strobe lights) for rapid and organized evacuation to the liferaft.
Encoding included: Skysat handles the encoding of your beacon (programming the country code and unique identifier). We will contact you upon receipt of your order to collect the necessary information. Official registration with the national 406 registry (CNES) remains the responsibility of the owner.
