Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for marine environments and demanding applications, the BEP 720B battery switch is a robust single-pole battery isolation switch. It stands out for its ability to handle high loads, with a continuous DC current of 600 amperes and a maximum DC voltage of 48 volts. Its design allows it to withstand significant current spikes, reaching 800 amperes DC intermittently (5 minutes) and up to 2500 amperes DC peak (10 seconds) for engine starting.
Design and technical performance
The BEP 720B is molded from fiber-reinforced plastic, offering high resistance to temperature and chemical agents. Its compliance with IP66 standard ensures protection against dust and powerful water jets, making it suitable for engine compartments and exposed areas. The connection terminals are 2 x 12 mm (1/2 inch), made of tinned copper, ensuring optimal electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance. The sliding copper contacts are self-cleaning, contributing to the device's long-term reliability. Its compact dimensions of 102 x 102 x 90 mm (H) allow flexible installation, flush-mounted or surface-mounted. This capacity places it above lower-amperage BEP switches, such as models 701 or 721, which handle continuous currents of 275A or 300A, making it ideal for larger electrical systems or large diesel engine starts.
Safety and system integration
Safety is a central feature of the BEP 720B. It is protected against ignition, making it safe for use in environments where fuel vapors may be present. A removable rear cover protects exposed terminals, preventing accidental short circuits. Removable side panels offer multiple cable entry options, simplifying installation. For added security, the switch can be locked with a 6 mm padlock (not supplied). As part of the Navico group, this battery switch integrates with the BEP Contour Lock system and is compatible with CZone digital switching systems. This integration enables centralized control and monitoring of power, providing a more sophisticated solution than traditional standalone switches.
