The Italian composite yard for IMOCA scows and AC75 foil arms
Persico Marine is the marine division of the Italian industrial group Persico, founded in 1976 by Pierino Persico in Nembro, in the Seriana valley (province of Bergamo). The marine division was established in 1990 and now operates on two sites: Nembro for composite manufacturing, and Marina di Carrara (Tuscany) for assembly and launching. Marcello Persico, son of the founder, runs Persico Marine.
Origin: the 5-axis milling machine from Il Moro di Venezia
Entry into yachting in 1990 with molds and components for the Italian challenger Il Moro di Venezia (America's Cup 1992): Raul Gardini sent his teams to Nembro, which was then equipped with a 5-axis milling machine — one of the first in Europe capable of machining hull molds at this scale. The yard then built Italian America's Cup boats (Luna Rossa) starting in 2005.
IMOCA: LinkedOut, Biotherm, and the two non-foiling scows Le Cam / Bellion
In the IMOCA 60 class, Persico Marine has become a reference for the latest generation of the Vendée Globe fleet. The yard has delivered:
- LinkedOut (Thomas Ruyant, 2020) — VPLP-Verdier design
- Biotherm (Paul Meilhat, 2022) — Guillaume Verdier design
- Starting in Finistère – Armor-lux (Jean Le Cam, 2023) and Stand As One / CommeUnSeulHomme (Éric Bellion, 2023) — two IMOCA non-foiling scows with daggerboards, David Raison design, shared project for the 2024–2025 Vendée Globe
America's Cup: Luna Rossa and sole supplier of AC75 foil arms
Persico Marine built both Luna Rossa AC75s for the 36th Cup (Auckland 2021). For the 37th edition (Barcelona 2024), the yard has become official one-design foil arm supplier for AC75 for all competing teams — a 4.5 m carbon part that carries the foil wing and lifts the boat.
Other racing programs
The yard also works for the Volvo Ocean Race / The Ocean Race, the Maxi 72 circuit, TP52s, and more recently the Persico Cat 72 foiling for American Magic (2025).
