SR Structures
The young composite yard in Lymington that built the Lift 45 Maxitude
SR Structures is a British composite yard based in Lymington (Hampshire), founded in 2023 by Sam Pellow and Ross Hotchkiss. It operates from the former Green Marine facilities — a site that produced America’s Cup yachts, Mini Maxis, TP52s, and Volvo Ocean Race boats before 2023. The team includes around fifteen composite specialists.
Founders and lineage
Sam Pellow began his boatbuilding apprenticeship in the same premises where SR Structures now operates. Before co-founding the yard, he ran Carbon Instinct, a workshop specializing in carbon components for performance sailboats. Ross Hotchkiss spent most of his career at the Green Marine site. Both have also worked on aeronautics, naval defense, and industrial wind projects.
Processes and capabilities
Construction, modification, and repair of composite sailboats up to 80 feet. The yard specializes in epoxy infusion under vacuum, hand lay-up, prepreg carbon, and out-of-autoclave (OOA) processes. Materials: carbon, aramid, glass, PVC foam cores, and Nomex honeycomb. Partner suppliers: Gurit, Sicomin, Pro-Set, Airtech, Matrix.
