Detailed description
Detailed description
The Blue Sea Systems L-Series 150A 12/24V solenoid, part number 7765, is designed for switching medium-current DC loads in marine and 12V/24V onboard systems. It provides a remote control solution for demanding applications.
Design and performance
This SPST (single-pole single-throw) normally open solenoid is notable for its continuous duty capability. It handles a continuous rated current of 150A with 2 AWG cable at 50°C ambient, an intermittent current of 225A (5 minutes), and an inrush current of 600A (30 seconds). Its nominal voltage is 12V/24V DC, with a control circuit accepting voltages from 9V to 36V DC. Coil current draw is 0.13A at 12V and 0.07A at 24V, minimizing heat generation and coil circuit power consumption.
Integration and robustness
The 7765 features hermetically sealed contacts, ensuring protection against harsh marine environments and enhanced durability. It is CE certified and has IP67 protection, guaranteeing waterproofing against immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. It is activated remotely via a low-ampere ON-OFF switch (sold separately). Compared to the 9012 model in the same series, which offers a continuous capacity of 250A and higher inrush capabilities (900A for 30 seconds), the 7765 is suited for loads under 150A, such as DC subpanels, bow thrusters, windlasses, or moderate power inverters. The terminals are M8 studs, accepting 5/16" lugs, with a maximum tightening torque of 10 Nm.
