Detailed description
Designed for FURUNO NAVpilot autopilot systems, the FURUNO FAP-6232 remote control is a Dodge-type non-follow-up (NFU) controller. This unit allows temporary course adjustments, providing flexibility for navigation and harbour manoeuvres. It is compatible with a wide range of NAVpilot autopilots, including models NAVpilot-300, NAVpilot-500, NAVpilot-511, NAVpilot-520, NAVpilot-700, NAVpilot-711, and NAVpilot-720.
Dodge Functionality and System Integration
The FAP-6232 Dodge function enables temporary course deviations, either to port or starboard. In NAV mode, the autopilot returns the vessel to its original course after the button is released. In AUTO mode, pressing the buttons alters the set course to the new direction. Course changes can be set to 1 or 5 degrees, depending on configured parameters. The unit connects directly to the NAVpilot system’s processing unit, such as FAP-7002 or FAP-5002 models, via open wires on a terminal block. The NAVpilot system can support up to six control units in total, with a maximum of three units per bus line.
Design and Technical Specifications
The FURUNO FAP-6232 is designed for simplified operation, featuring no power switch and activating by simply pressing the directional buttons. It is commonly supplied with a 36-foot (approximately 10.97-meter) cable, which can be extended if required to suit specific vessel configurations. This remote control provides a practical and direct method for managing course adjustments without interacting with the autopilot’s main console.
