Detailed description
The FURUNO SC33 is a satellite compass NMEA2000 awarded at the NMEA AWARDS 2019 in the « NMEA 2000 Sensor » category. It is designed to provide accurate attitude data to various marine navigation equipment.
Accuracy and performance
This satellite compass delivers a heading accuracy of 0.4° RMS. Positioning accuracy is 5.0m (GPS) or 3.0m (GPS + SBAS/WAAS). The SC33 integrates Furuno’s advanced GNSS kinematic technology and a revolutionary dual-antenna system with speed sensors for precise measurements. It receives signals from the GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS satellite constellations on L1 frequencies. The tracking rate is 45°/second, with a maximum attitude update rate of 50 Hz and a position update rate of 10 Hz.
Integration and robustness
The FURUNO SC33 is NMEA2000 certified, with an NMEA0183 interface available via the optional IF-NMEASC unit. It is powered by 12-24 VDC. Its robust design makes it resistant to multipath interference, shocks, and vibrations, and it maintains accuracy even under a steel bridge if satellite signals are received. The unit includes a 3-axis gyroscope, acceleration sensors, a thermometer, and a barometer. It is designed to operate in ambient temperatures from -25°C to +55°C and features IP56 waterproofing. Its compact and aesthetic dome antenna is suitable for various vessel types. It is compatible with the Furuno NavNet TZtouch, NavNet TZtouch2, and NavPilot 300 series (with software update).
