Detailed description
Designed for maritime connectivity, the FURUNO V45C is a compact Ku-band VSAT system. It provides an optimized satellite communication solution for small vessels, including fishing boats, pleasure craft, as well as commercial and government vessels. Its lightweight design and performance are suited for HTS (High-Throughput Satellite) satellites and wide Ku-band beams.
Performance and connectivity
The FURUNO V45C antenna has a diameter of 45 cm (17.7 inches) and is housed in a dome measuring 61 cm in diameter by 62.7 cm in height, with a total weight of 23 kg. This system operates on TX frequencies from 13.75 to 14.5 GHz and RX from 10.7 to 12.75 GHz in the Ku band. It delivers a TX gain of 34.8 dBi at 14.25 GHz and an RX gain of 33.2 dBi at 11.7 GHz, with a G/T exceeding 12.3 dB/K. Equipped with a 6W BUC, the system uses a 4-axis antenna (AZ, EL, CL, and Skew) for precise satellite tracking. Connectivity is simplified with a single coaxial cable between the above-deck unit (ADE) and the below-deck unit (BDU).
Installation and management
Installation of the FURUNO V45C is streamlined by the external connection of the coaxial cable, eliminating the need for internal access to the radome. System management is handled via the AptusNX platform, a responsive web-based user interface. This system is compatible with various modem types, such as iDirect and Comtech, and offers the flexibility to choose the Ku-band service provider. Maintenance is simplified by an access hatch on the antenna unit. The V45C also supports redundancy by accommodating two antenna systems on a single modem.
