Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed to modernize existing onboard systems, the Garmin GFL 10 adapter (part number 010-11326-00) converts analog fluid level sensor data into NMEA 2000 digital data. This device allows integration of traditional sensors, whether connected to an analog gauge or directly to the fluid sensor, into an existing or new NMEA 2000 network. It enables precise monitoring of fuel, freshwater, wastewater, oil, or livewell levels directly on compatible Garmin multifunction displays (MFD) and chartplotters, such as the GPSMAP series or the GMI 10 display.
NMEA 2000 integration and performance
The GFL 10 adapter stands out for its ability to convert analog sensor outputs (0-5V or 0-250 ohms) into NMEA 2000 PGN 127505 messages, dedicated to fluid level monitoring. With a maximum power consumption of 1 W and a Load Equivalency Number (LEN) of 2 (100 mA) on the NMEA 2000 network, the GFL 10 is powered via the NMEA 2000 bus (9-16 V DC) and integrates discreetly. Its design complies with IEC 60529 IPX7 standard, allowing temporary submersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes, making it suitable for marine environments prone to splashing and washing.
Flexible installation and configuration
Installation of the GFL 10 is flexible, allowing connection to an existing analog gauge or directly to the fluid level sensor. It is recommended to position it within 4.4 meters of the sensor to avoid bare wire splices. For integration into the NMEA 2000 network, it connects via the supplied T-connector or a NMEA 2000 drop cable (not included) if required. Configuration is performed via a compatible Garmin display device, offering options to define the fluid type (gasoline, diesel, freshwater, wastewater, oil, livewell), tank number, capacity, and calibration. This approach allows customization and monitoring tailored to each vessel's specific configuration, providing a targeted alternative to fully digital fluid monitoring systems or more complex multiparameter gateways.
