Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for saltwater and freshwater fishing, the Garmin Airmar TM185M depth sounder is a CHIRP transducer for transom mounting, optimized for shallow to mid-depths. It provides high-resolution target detection and detailed bottom information, essential for identifying fish and underwater structures.
CHIRP technology and performance
The TM185M is CHIRP-compatible, delivering improved target detection, detail level, and range resolution compared to traditional fishfinders. It operates in the mid-frequency band, from 85 kHz to 135 kHz, transmitting over a total bandwidth of 50 kHz. This frequency range balances coverage, range, and return clarity for fish and structures. With a power output of 1 kW, this transducer can reach a maximum depth of 457 meters (1,500 feet). The beam angle ranges from 16° to 11°.
Robust design and versatility
The TM185M housing is made of urethane, a durable material, and features SEALCAST™ technology for enhanced marine durability. The mounting bracket is stainless steel, ensuring stable installation on outboard or inboard/outboard motorboats. Compatible with all hull materials (wood, fiberglass, aluminum, steel), this transducer is suitable for vessels up to 10 meters (33 feet) in overall length (LOA). It is designed for transom angles from 3° to 21° and includes fast-response depth and water temperature sensing. The patented Xducer ID® technology enables automatic transducer identification.
Installation and connectivity
The Garmin Airmar TM185M is primarily a transom-mount model. It is typically supplied with a 10-meter (33-foot) cable and is available with Garmin 8-pin or 12-pin connectors, as well as in Mix and Match™ versions. Its weight is 4.2 kg (9.2 lb).
