The Garmin Descent G1, Gray is a rugged dive watch and multisport smartwatch designed for underwater activities and daily wear. The device integrates comprehensive dive technology with a range of health tracking, wellness, and smart features.
Advanced dive capabilities
The Descent G1 supports multiple dive modes, including single-gas, multi-gas (air, nitrox, trimix, 100% O₂), closed-circuit rebreather (CCR), gauge mode, freediving, and spearfishing. It enables dive planning with decompression stops and management of up to 12 gas mixes. The Bühlmann ZHL-16C decompression model is used. The watch features a 3-axis digital compass and provides depth alerts via vibration. The maximum operational depth is 100 meters, compliant with EN 13319. The depth sensor is accurate from 0 to 100 meters, with a resolution of 0.1 m up to 99.9 m.
Multisport and connected features
Beyond diving, the Descent G1 integrates a depth sensor, temperature sensor, gyroscope, barometric altimeter, accelerometer, and an Elevate Gen 4 optical heart rate monitor with Pulse Ox sensor for blood oxygen saturation. Multi-GNSS support (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo) ensures surface tracking and automatic marking of dive entry and exit points. The watch includes preloaded sports apps for over 30 indoor and GPS activities, including swimming, hiking, running, cycling, and surfing. Smart notifications, Connect IQ compatibility, and integration with the Garmin Dive app enhance the user experience. It also includes health tracking features such as sleep monitoring, Body Battery™ energy tracking, and physical age.
Design and battery life
The 45.5 x 45.5 x 15.2 mm case is made of fiber-reinforced polymer, with a fiber-reinforced polymer bezel and sapphire crystal. Tested to MIL-STD-810 military standards for thermal, shock, and water resistance, the watch has a water resistance rating of 10 ATM. Battery life reaches up to 25 hours in dive mode, 21 days in smartwatch mode, and 26 hours in GPS mode. The device weighs 61 to 66 g, depending on the model.
