Designed for the marine environment, the JL Audio M3-770X-S-Gw-i are 7.7-inch (196 mm) 2-way coaxial marine speakers combining acoustic performance with integrated RGB LED lighting. These speakers are optimized for "infinite-baffle" installations, requiring a minimum air volume of 2 cubic feet for optimal performance. Their robust design features UV- and corrosion-resistant polymer baskets and grilles, with a woofer motor system encapsulated for enhanced corrosion protection.
Marine Audio Performance
The 7.7-inch woofer features an injection-molded mica-filled polypropylene cone with a synthetic rubber surround. The 0.75-inch (19 mm) tweeter is a treated silk dome, specifically formulated to withstand marine conditions. The M3-770X-S-Gw-i delivers 70 watts RMS continuous power and 225 watts peak power. The frequency response ranges from 45 Hz to 25,000 Hz (± 3 dB) with a sensitivity of 90.5 dB (1 W / 1 m) and an impedance of 4 ohms. A 2-way crossover is integrated into the woofer basket, including a 12 dB/octave high-pass filter for the tweeter and a polyswitch semiconductor protection circuit for enhanced reliability.
Integrated RGB LED Lighting
These speakers feature RGB LED lighting integrated directly into the grille frame, illuminating the woofer cone area. Seven fixed colors can be selected via a separate 12 V wiring harness for each speaker. For extended customization with thousands of color variations, an optional RGB controller (such as the JL Audio MLC-RW) is required and sold separately. Secure installation with a 150 mA fast-blow fuse on the positive LED power wire is mandatory for each speaker to protect the LEDs and the unit from excessive current.
Design and Installation
With a cutout diameter of 159 mm (6.25 inches) and a mounting depth of 81 mm (3.17 inches), the JL Audio M3-770X-S-Gw-i are designed for flush-mount installation. Their 7.7-inch design delivers superior mid-bass efficiency and response compared to 6.5-inch models, enabling higher sound output and improved clarity in open marine environments. Bright white "Sport" grilles are included.
