The JL Audio M6-770X-S-GwGw-i 2-way coaxial marine speakers, 7.7 inches (196 mm), are designed to deliver optimal audio performance in open marine environments. Their engineering is specifically adapted to marine requirements, exceeding international standards for salt fog resistance and UV exposure, ensuring long-term durability.
Audio performance and marine durability
These speakers deliver 100 watts RMS per speaker (200 watts per pair) with a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. The recommended amplifier power is 40 to 200 watts per channel. The frequency response ranges from 45 Hz to 25,000 Hz (± 3 dB), with a sensitivity of 91 dB @ 1W/1m. The woofer features an injection-molded polypropylene cone, mica-filled, with UV inhibitors and a synthetic rubber surround. Its long-excursion design improves output, bass extension, and power handling. JL Audio’s DMA (Dynamic Motor Analysis) optimization ensures linear performance and controlled behavior at all listening levels. The 1-inch (25 mm) pure silk dome tweeter is specifically treated for marine environments and includes an automatic semiconductor protection circuit.
Design and integration
The integrated 2-way passive crossover system, multi-order, is concealed within the woofer’s chassis, protecting it from vibrations and corrosion. The M6-770X-S-GwGw-i speakers are optimized for infinite baffle operation (free-air applications), eliminating the need for dedicated enclosures, provided there is at least 2 cubic feet (57 liters) of air volume behind the speaker for optimal bass performance. The UV- and corrosion-resistant polymer baskets encapsulate the woofer’s motor system, and the connection terminals are gold-plated marine-grade brass. The integrated RGB Transflective™ LED lighting projects a uniform light effect through the woofer cone, without hot spots or reflections. It offers multiple fixed colors, and thousands of variations are possible with an optional JL Audio MLC-RW or MLC-RC controller (sold separately). The cutout diameter is 6.25 inches (159 mm), with a mounting depth of 3.32 inches (84 mm) and an outer frame diameter of 7.70 inches (196 mm). Bright white Sport grilles are included. M6 speakers are produced at JL Audio’s Miramar, Florida factory using components and materials sourced worldwide.
