Designed for low-frequency reproduction in marine environments, the JL Audio M6-10IB-S-GwGw-4 marine subwoofer with a 10-inch (250 mm) driver offers flexible integration thanks to its optimization for infinite baffle applications. It is also compatible with sealed and vented enclosures, adapting to various onboard installation configurations. This model from JL Audio’s M6 series is built for durability and sound quality in aquatic environments.
Design and acoustic performance
The M6-10IB-S-GwGw-4 subwoofer features a 10-inch (250 mm) driver with an RMS power handling of 250 watts and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. Its injected polypropylene cone with mica loading, featuring UV inhibitors, is paired with a synthetic rubber surround and a progressive-spider marine-grade synthetic fiber suspension. The motor system is optimized by JL Audio’s Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA) technology, reducing distortion and ensuring precise bass reproduction. It delivers a linear excursion (Xmax) of 13.2 mm for deep, smooth bass. Sensitivity is 86.1 dB and the free-air resonance frequency (Fs) is 43.76 Hz. Recommended amplifier power ranges from 75 W to 250 W RMS.
Marine robustness and integration
This subwoofer is specifically engineered to withstand marine conditions. Its corrosion- and UV-resistant polymer basket encapsulates the motor system for enhanced protection. The product undergoes rigorous testing in UV and salt spray chambers to ensure long-term reliable performance. It is optimized for infinite baffle applications, requiring at least 56.6 liters (2 cubic feet) of air volume behind it, but can also be mounted in sealed enclosures of 56.6 liters or vented enclosures of 70.8 liters (2.5 cubic feet). Installation requires a mounting depth of 150 mm (5-15/16 inches) and a cutout diameter of 225 mm (8-7/8 inches), for a total diameter of 273 mm (10.75 inches). Connections are made via gold-plated marine-grade brass terminals, and mounting uses marine-grade stainless steel hardware. A bright white sport grille is included.
