The JL Audio XDM400/4 marine amplifier is a robust and compact audio solution designed for automotive and marine installations. Featuring NexD™ Class D switching technology, it delivers 400 watts RMS with high efficiency and minimal distortion across a wide bandwidth, from 12 Hz to 22 kHz (+0, -1dB).
Performance and Design
The XDM400/4 provides 75 watts RMS x 4 channels at 4 ohms or 100 watts RMS x 4 channels at 2 ohms at 14.4V, with total harmonic distortion (THD+N) below 1% at 2 ohms per channel. In bridged mode, it delivers 200 watts RMS x 2 channels at 4 ohms. Its signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 104 dB at rated power (A-weighted) and exceeds 84 dB (A-weighted) at 1 W. It features an RCA input sensitivity of 200 mV to 4 V RMS.
Integration and Durability
This model includes variable active high-pass and low-pass filters with adjustable cutoff frequency from 50 to 500 Hz and a slope of 12 dB/octave. Connectivity is optimized with balanced differential inputs, reducing noise induced by cables. The chassis is weather-resistant with a black powder-coated finish, a sealed control cover, and stainless-steel hardware, ensuring durability in demanding marine environments. The amplifier features advanced thermal protection, adjusting output power to prevent shutdowns in case of overheating. It is compatible with optional remote level controllers HD-RLC or MHD-RLC. For power, a 40 A fuse (AFS, AGU, or MaxiFuse™) is required, with minimum 4 AWG wiring for power and ground. Its dimensions are 216 mm (width) x 52 mm (height) x 180 mm (depth).
