Detailed description
Detailed description
The NAVICO Bullet Skimmer fishfinder (000-14027-001) is a transom-mounted transducer designed specifically to optimize fish detection and bottom mapping on Lowrance HOOK² combos. Ideal for HOOK² 4 and HOOK² 4X models, this fishfinder provides a reliable and efficient solution for coastal and freshwater fishing, positioning itself as an economical and effective alternative to more complex transducers like TripleShot or SplitShot, which include DownScan and SideScan technologies. Unlike the latter, the Bullet Skimmer focuses on standard broadband sonar without CHIRP support for simplified use.
Sonar Performance and Technical Specifications
The Bullet Skimmer fishfinder operates at a frequency of 200 kHz, with some variants also supporting 83/200 kHz for standard sonar. It provides a beam angle of 40 degrees at 200 kHz, offering sonar coverage approximately twice as wide as traditional transducers. This feature makes it easier to locate fish and underwater structures. The maximum achievable depth is 152 meters (500 feet) at 200 kHz, making it perfectly suited for typical fishing applications. An integrated temperature sensor is included, providing essential data for analyzing fishing conditions. The fishfinder weighs 0.11 kg (0.24 lbs) without its cable and comes with a 6-meter (19.5-foot) cable featuring a Hook² 4x-specific connector, ensuring seamless integration with compatible units.
Design and Installation
Constructed with a durable, marine-grade plastic housing that is waterproof, the NAVICO Bullet Skimmer fishfinder is designed to withstand freshwater and saltwater marine environments. Its operating temperature ranges from 0°C to +50°C, and storage temperature from -30°C to +70°C. Mounting options are versatile, including transom, bow-mount electric motor, or through-hull installation. For optimal mounting, an undisturbed water flow is recommended, avoiding areas behind chines or spray rails. Recommended pilot hole sizes for screws are Ø 3.7–4.0 mm (5/32") for soft materials like plywood and Ø 4.1–4.7 mm (3/16") for rigid materials such as fiberglass or hardwood. Integration with the HOOK² fishfinder’s Autotuning function simplifies the user experience by automatically adjusting settings for optimal performance.
