Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for small boats (up to 8 meters overall length) with solid fiberglass hulls, the XSONIC Airmar P79 depth sounder transducer offers an internal depth sounder solution. Installation does not require drilling the hull, which is particularly advantageous for trailerable boats or those frequently beached.
Performance and frequencies
The XSONIC Airmar P79 is a 600 W dual-frequency transducer dedicated to depth measurement. It operates on two distinct frequencies to adapt to various sailing and fishing conditions:
- At 50 kHz, it provides a wide 45° beam with a maximum range of 305 meters (1000 feet).
- At 200 kHz, it offers a narrower 12° beam for detailed detection up to 183 meters (600 feet).
Installation and compatibility
This transducer installs inside the solid fiberglass hull with no external protrusion. It features an adjustable mounting base that accommodates hull deadrise angles up to 22°, ensuring the sonar beam is directed vertically toward the bottom for accurate readings. The base is filled with a non-toxic cooling liquid (propylene glycol) that ensures efficient acoustic transmission through the hull. The 10-meter cable is equipped with a black 9-pin connector, compatible with Navico systems.
The XSONIC Airmar P79 is suitable for planing powerboats, RIBs, racing sailboats, and trailerable boats. Its acoustic window is made of laminated urethane plastic. A Smart™ Sensor version (P79S) is also available for NMEA 0183 or NMEA 2000® data output, operating at 235 kHz with 100 W power and a 7° beam.
