The Simrad HALO20+ Radar is a 20-inch compact pulse-compression radar designed to enhance situational awareness and collision avoidance. This 25 W solid-state radar unit offers a range of up to 36 nautical miles and ultra-fast operation with a 60 rpm rotation at short range.
Advanced Technology for Safe Navigation
Featuring Doppler VelocityTrack™ technology, the HALO20+ provides instant visual feedback on approaching or receding targets using simple color coding without manual selection. This feature enables rapid identification of potential threats, improving safety at sea. The radar also includes a dual-range function, allowing monitoring of distant weather cells while detecting collision risks at close range.
Performance and Reliability
With InstantOn™ technology, the HALO20+ radar activates instantly from its low-power standby mode (3.9 W at 13.8 V DC), providing high-speed radar coverage as needed. Full startup takes a few seconds. It offers multiple radar modes, including Harbor, Offshore, Weather, Bird, and custom modes, adjusting signal processing for optimal target visibility in various environmental conditions. The MARPA target tracking allows tracking up to 10 targets, or 20 in dual-range mode. The Beam Sharpening function improves the separation of small or distant targets.
Technical Specifications and Installation
The HALO20+ operates on a DC power supply from 10.5 to 31.2 V with reverse polarity protection and an operational power consumption of 17 to 29 W. Its weight is 6.9 kg (without cable). It is designed to withstand marine environments with IPX6 waterproofing and an operating temperature range from -25° to +55° C. The scanner is compatible with maximum relative wind speeds of 51 m/s (100 knots). The transmitter frequency is in the X-band, from 9.4 to 9.5 GHz, with a peak power of 25 W. The radar offers a minimum range of 6 meters. For installation, a minimum distance of 0.7 m (2.3 ft) from the compass is recommended.
