The Simrad NSO evo3S MPU is a "black box" marine processing unit (MPU) designed for custom multi-display systems, targeting vessels of 10 metres (33 feet) and above. It serves as the central brain for integrating various marine electronics, providing a flexible platform for navigation, radar, fishfinder, autopilot, and other essential functions.
Performance and Display
Equipped with two iMX8 Quad Max six-core processors, the NSO evo3S MPU delivers fast performance and optimal responsiveness across all connected displays. It can manage two independent displays, supporting both touch and non-touch monitors. Its processing power enables rapid chart refreshes and smooth operation of demanding applications, such as StructureScan® 3D imaging. The unit features one Full HD HDMI video output and two composite video inputs (BNC).
Connectivity and Integration
The NSO evo3S MPU integrates extensive connectivity for complete system integration. It includes:
- 3 Ethernet ports (RJ45, including 2 PoE)
- 1 NMEA 2000 port (Micro-C male, 1 LEN)
- 2 NMEA 0183 ports (via proprietary cable)

The NSO evo3S MPU weighs 1.0 kg (2.2 lbs) and has an IPX2 waterproof rating. A safety distance of 50 cm (20") from a compass is required. The system can be controlled via Simrad MO-series touch monitors, an optional OP50 keypad, or other USB peripherals such as a mouse or keyboard.
