Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for tiller-steered sailboats up to 39 feet and a maximum displacement of 5,715 kg, the Simrad TP32 Tillerpilot delivers reliable and precise autopilot performance, even in varied sea conditions. It provides a peak thrust of 85 kg and a stroke length of 25.4 cm. Its ball screw drive mechanism ensures rapid response, with a tacking time of 4.0 seconds at 0 kg and 8.0 seconds at 50 kg.
Energy Efficiency and Silent Operation
Optimized for low power consumption, the TP32 draws only 60 mA in standby and 500 mA in auto mode, helping to preserve the boat’s battery autonomy. Its operation is also designed to be quiet, enhancing onboard comfort. The unit operates on a nominal voltage of 12V DC, with an operating range of 10 to 16V DC, and in an ambient temperature range of -10°C to +55°C.
Connectivity and Advanced Features
Compatible with SimNet for plug-and-play integration and equipped with an NMEA 0183 interface (versions 2.0, 2.3, and 3.0 at 4800 baud), the TP32 can be connected to external equipment for advanced functions such as Steer to Wind mode (wind-based steering) and Nav Mode (GPS waypoint steering). It defaults to compass-based steering mode and includes automatic tacking and jibing functions. Simplified controls are accessible via five buttons. The unit is designed for starboard-side installation by default but can be reversed for port-side mounting. It features sealed joints for protection against marine elements.
