Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for demanding standalone and hybrid power systems, Victron Energy’s MultiPlus 12/3000/120-16 is a complete power solution. The unit combines a 3000 VA pure sine wave inverter, a 120 amp adaptive battery charger, and a 16 amp high-speed AC transfer switch, all housed in a compact enclosure.
Power management and technical performance
The MultiPlus 12/3000/120-16 operates from a 12V DC input (range 9.5 to 17V), providing a 230V AC output ±2% at 50 Hz ±0.1%. It delivers a continuous output power of 3000 VA (2400 Watts at 25°C) and a peak power of 6000 Watts, essential for starting high inrush loads. Its standby consumption is 20 Watts, dropping to 8 Watts in search mode. The integrated charger delivers 120A to the service battery and 4A to the starter battery, using a four-stage adaptive charging profile compatible with lithium-ion, sealed, AGM, gel, and flooded batteries.
Advanced features and system integration
This MultiPlus includes PowerControl and PowerAssist functions. PowerControl allows setting a maximum AC input current to prevent overload of limited sources (generator or shore power). PowerAssist goes further by supplementing AC power with battery power during consumption peaks, avoiding tripping and enabling the use of smaller generators or shore power outlets. In case of power failure, the 16A automatic transfer switch ensures uninterrupted AC power (UPS function) in less than 20 milliseconds, guaranteeing continuity for sensitive equipment.
The MultiPlus 12/3000/120-16 offers flexibility: up to six units can operate in parallel to increase power, and three units can be configured for three-phase output, or two units for split-phase 120/240V output. It has two AC outputs, one main with "no-break" function and one auxiliary active only when an external AC source is present. Remote monitoring and control are possible via the VRM app and Victron Remote Management portal, in combination with a GX device (Cerbo GX, Ekrano GX, etc.), or via Digital MultiControl panels and the VE.Bus Smart Bluetooth dongle. Its VE.Bus connectivity simplifies system integration and advanced configuration. Compared to lower-power MultiPlus models such as the 12/1200/50, this 3000VA unit offers significantly increased capacity for applications requiring more simultaneous power or faster charging of large battery banks. For installations requiring a 120V AC output, Victron Energy offers specific MultiPlus variants, while this model is configured for 230V AC networks.
