3 installation errors seen in the workshop — all brands included

  1. Missing or undersized class T fuse.

    NH fuses are not enough — Icc lithium exceeds 30 kA. Class T calibrated at max BMS current + 20%.

  2. Incompatible LFP alternator regulator left in place.

    The lead-acid battery profile (3-stage) damages the cells. Wakespeed WS500, Balmar MC-614, or Victron Orion XS required.

  3. No DC-DC isolator between alternator and BMS.

    Without a Load Dump absorber, the BMS triggers during charging → overvoltage → alternator diodes burned out.

The 2026 distributor list prices are indicative (ex-works, excluding wiring and workshop labor). Cycle life figures in datasheets do not reflect real-world use—thermal profile and BMS programming quality have a greater impact on longevity.
