The ActiveTarget 2 kit, the module alone, the transducer alone, and associated mounts must be chosen together: transducer orientation and mounting on an electric motor shaft significantly impact the on-screen experience.

Connectivity: verify 7-pin, 8-pin, xSonic, Ethernet, power, and extensions; Hook, Elite, HDS, and ActiveTarget generations do not always mix without an adapter.

Start with the fishing question: hard or soft bottom, typical depth, need for SideScan, vertical fishing, trolling motor, reading while navigating or slow surveying. Only then validate the screen and transducer. An HDS PRO display without the right transducer can be disappointing; an Eagle properly paired with an appropriate transducer can be far more effective than a more expensive misconfigured setup.
