Battery chargers for boats: USB, 12V and wireless

This collection brings together solutions whose primary purpose is to charge or power mobile devices on board. It differs from the USB collection, which is broader and also covers connectivity, extensions and data ports. Here, the customer intent is simple: to create a reliable charging point, properly protected and suited to the marine environment.

Flush-mounted USB-A and USB-C chargers

For a clean installation in the cabin, at the chart table or on an electrical panel, flush-mounted chargers convert the boat’s 12/24V network into USB outputs. USB-A maintains compatibility with existing cables; USB-C delivers more power and better compatibility with phones, tablets and newer devices.

Blue Sea models such as the dual USB charger 2.1A or the dual USB charger 4.8A meet standard charging needs. For more modern installations, Scanstrut TILE chargers like the TILE USB-C / USB-C black or the TILE USB-A / USB-C black are suitable for interior fittings.

Exposed areas: flap, waterproofing and mechanical strength

In a cockpit, near a companionway or on an open console, a charger must better withstand splashes, vibrations and frequent handling. A protective flap or an outdoor-rated housing protects connectors when not in use. The location must also avoid standing water and remain accessible for maintenance.

12V charging, extensions and remote outlets

Some equipment still uses a 12V outlet or requires a remote port rather than a new charger. In this case, the goal is to place the power outlet in the right spot without compromising the wiring. Circuit protection remains essential: appropriate fuse or circuit breaker, correct cable gauge, verified polarity and clean cable routing.

Qi wireless charging

Wireless charging avoids plugging a cable into a port exposed to salt and moisture. It’s practical at the helm, on a chart table or in a cabin, provided the phone is Qi-compatible and the location limits heat exposure in sunlight. Models with retention or magnetic hold are preferable when the boat is moving.

Before you choose

Check the input voltage (12/24V), the actual output power, the port type, waterproofing rating, mounting depth, fuse rating and the number of devices to charge simultaneously.
