Detailed description
Detailed description
The B&G Triton² 4.1-inch digital display is a multifunction navigation instrument for cruising and racing sailboats. Connected to an NMEA 2000 network, it displays speed, depth, wind, heading, and AIS targets. Its low-profile design allows integration on bulkheads or helm consoles. Power consumption ranges from 1.35 W to 2.16 W.
Display and interface
The Triton² features a 4.1-inch TFT transflective LCD screen in a 4:3 format with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Optical bonding of the panel prevents internal condensation and maintains contrast in full sunlight. The white LED backlight is adjustable from 10 % to 100 % and includes a night mode with color palettes (red, green, blue, or white).
Tactical functions and network integration
Unlike general-purpose multifunction displays such as the Garmin GMI 20, the Triton² includes dedicated sailing functions: B&G’s SailSteer and WindPlot pages, which consolidate apparent and true wind, heading, laylines, and tidal data on a single graphical screen. NMEA 2000-certified (IPX7 waterproof), it connects via a single Micro-C cable for both power (12 V DC) and data. The display group function synchronizes lighting and settings across multiple units.
Autopilot control
Paired with a Triton² Pilot control keypad and a B&G computer (NAC-2, NAC-3, or H5000), this display serves as an autopilot control station. It uses the brand’s sailing-specific autopilot algorithms to steer by heading, apparent wind, or true wind (No Drift mode). It manages critical alarms (MOB, wind shift, off-course). It competes with the Raymarine i70s, particularly for sailboats already equipped with B&G systems.
