Detailed description
Detailed description
The B&G V60-B fixed VHF radio is a communication and safety solution that integrates a Class B AIS transceiver (transmit and receive) and a GPS receiver. Supplied with the external GPS-500 antenna for optimal positioning accuracy, this Class D DSC radio connects to NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 networks for seamless integration with your navigation instruments. Unlike the standard V60 model, which only receives AIS signals, the V60-B also transmits your vessel's position, significantly increasing your visibility and safety at sea.
Integrated AIS transceiver and safety features
The integrated Class B AIS transponder is the V60-B's key feature. It transmits your vessel's position to nearby boats and receives their data, helping to avoid collisions in busy areas. AIS information can be viewed directly on the radio's display or overlaid on a chart via a B&G multifunction display connected via NMEA 2000. The radio is Class D DSC (Digital Selective Calling) approved for automated distress calls. A dedicated Man Overboard (MOB) function allows you to mark a waypoint and provide distance and heading instructions for returning to it, with position transmission over the NMEA 2000 network.
GPS performance and navigation functions
To ensure maximum reliability of position data, the V60-B features an internal GPS receiver and comes with the external GPS-500 antenna. This configuration guarantees fast and stable signal acquisition, even when installed in a cabin. The radio has a navigation mode that displays speed and heading. The Track Buddy function allows you to follow the position of up to five friendly vessels by entering their MMSI number, a useful feature for regattas or flotilla sailing.
System connectivity, installation and expansion
The V60-B is designed for flexible installation with its flush-mount design and removable remote microphone that can be connected to the front or rear of the unit. The system can be expanded with up to two optional H60 cordless handsets, transforming the VHF radio into an onboard intercom system. NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 connectivity ensures broad compatibility. The unit supports an optional megaphone or external speaker. Powered by 12VDC, the radio's front panel is waterproof to IPX7 standards.
