Detailed description

The BEP Contour Matrix 600-GDL is a marine gas detector designed to detect LPG, gasoline, and natural gas (CNG) vapors. Unlike the 600-GD model, the 600-GDL includes automatic solenoid shutdown control with Pulse & Hold technology, which applies full power to open the valve and then reduces it to keep it open, minimizing energy consumption and heat generation. This model is ideal for boats equipped with electric gas valves, offering enhanced safety compared to a simple alarm-only detector.

Gas detection and alarms

The 600-GDL uses a semiconductor sensor to detect explosive gases starting at 20% of the LEL (Lower Explosive Limit). The device supports up to two sensors (one 5-meter sensor cable is included) for extended coverage in bilges or engine compartments. Upon detection, a visual alarm (red LED) and audible alarm (rapid beep) are triggered, and the solenoid valve closes automatically. The system also includes an output for external alarm and automatic bilge fan control. A manual bypass button (indicated by a flashing green LED) allows temporary sensor deactivation, for example, to ventilate the compartment without triggering the alarm.

Installation and compatibility

With a compact 67 x 88 x 17 mm housing, the 600-GDL is easily installed on a panel. Its power supply is 10 to 15 V DC (compared to 10-30 V DC for the 600-GD without solenoid). Maximum consumption is 350 mA, and each output can handle up to 800 mA. The sensor cable is 5 meters long, and it is critical not to submerge the sensor, as this will render it inoperable.
