Detailed description
Detailed description
The BEP LPG gas detector Contour Matrix (reference 600-GDRV) is a microprocessor-based monitoring system designed for marine environments. It detects leaks of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), gasoline vapors, and compressed natural gas (CNG), with an alarm threshold triggered at 20% of the lower explosive limit (LEL). Compatible with a power supply of 10 to 32 V DC, it consumes approximately 350 mA with two sensors connected.
Technical specifications of the Contour Matrix detector
The 600-GDRV features a microprocessor control ensuring precise and reliable sensitivity. It supports up to two sensors simultaneously, including one sensor supplied with a 5-meter (16 ft) cable. The compact control unit measures 67 x 88 x 17 mm (2.4" H x 3.5" W x 0.7" D), allowing easy integration on the dashboard. The unit includes built-in visual and audible alarms, as well as an output for external alarm and a fan output for bilge ventilation, enabling automatic ventilation in case of detection. An amber LED indicates any sensor fault (contamination, damage, short circuit), and a test switch allows verification of system functionality.
Positioning of the 600-GDRV detector in the BEP range
The 600-GDRV differs from the 600-GDL model in the same Contour Matrix range by the absence of the "Pulse & Hold" solenoid output (800 mA max, 700 mA pulse, 250 mA hold) for automatic propane solenoid valve cutoff. The 600-GDRV is therefore intended for installations where automatic gas cutoff is not required, whereas the 600-GDL targets propane installations with automated cutoff. Compared to competitors such as the Xintex/Fireboy MS-2 or Safe-T-Alert 62 series, the BEP Contour Matrix stands out with its multi-sensor architecture (2 sensors simultaneously) covering LPG, gasoline, and CNG on the same unit, as well as its built-in bilge fan provision, whereas most competing detectors are limited to a single gas family or a single sensor. The LPG gas detector Contour Matrix thus offers a relevant technical compromise for boats equipped with multiple fuel sources or requiring multi-zone monitoring.
