Detailed description
Detailed description
The Blue Sea Systems e-Series 5510E dual-circuit battery switch is designed for marine applications requiring reliable management of two isolated battery banks. This switch is suitable for inboard gasoline or diesel engines, offering a continuous capacity of 350 A per circuit and a maximum voltage of 32 V DC.
Design and Technical Performance
Featuring 3/8"-16 (M10) tinned copper terminals, the 5510E ensures maximum conductivity and enhanced corrosion resistance. The one-piece stud design reduces overheating risks and guarantees a stable connection. Each 22.22 mm (7/8") stud accommodates multiple cable terminals, with a recommended tightening torque of 15.82 N·m (140 in-lb). It is compatible with battery cables up to 4/0 AWG (120 mm²).
Positioning in the Range and Compliance
The 5510E model is part of Blue Sea Systems' e-Series, characterized by a continuous capacity of 350 A, higher than the m-Series (300 A) but lower than the HD-Series (500–600 A) designed for large diesel engines. Compared to competitors such as the Perko 8501DP (250 A continuous) or the Cole Hersee M750 (230 A continuous), the 5510E offers a higher current capacity for its category. It meets ABYC requirements for battery switches, is UL 1107 listed, and complies with UL 1500 and SAE J1171 standards for ignition protection. Its IP66 rating ensures resistance to powerful water jets and dust. It is also CE and ISO 8846 certified.
Installation and Use
The 5510E housing allows surface or rear-panel mounting, providing installation flexibility. It features a tactile indicator for the switch position. Unlike the 5511E (Dual Circuit Plus), the 5510E is a Dual Circuit™ switch that allows simultaneous switching of two isolated battery banks without bank combination functionality. The positive battery terminal must be disconnected before installation, and the switch must never be turned OFF while the engine is running.
