Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for comprehensive monitoring of AC electrical systems on board, the BLUE SEA 8247-BSS multifunction digital AC meter with alarm provides essential data for energy management. This device measures and displays simultaneously voltage (Voltage), current (Amperage), frequency (Frequency) and power (Power) of your AC installation. Unlike single-function meters such as models 8237 (voltmeter), 8238 (ammeter) or 8239 (frequency meter) from the same brand, the 8247-BSS consolidates these critical pieces of information into a single unit, offering a practical overview of your system’s performance.
AC safety and performance
The 8247-BSS is equipped with alarm features for high voltage, low voltage and high current, allowing users to be alerted in case of potentially hazardous conditions or system malfunctions. Voltage monitoring is crucial when using a generator to prevent equipment damage and identify regulation or power supply issues. Current tracking helps avoid overloads, especially with limited power sources such as shore power or RV parks. Additionally, frequency regulation is important for the stability of sensitive devices and the efficiency of transformer-based equipment.
Design and installation
This BLUE SEA meter integrates a display with adjustable brightness and a scan mode for easy reading. Its face is splash-resistant and its printed circuits are coated for improved corrosion resistance. However, it is not designed for use in wet environments or outdoor installation without additional protection. Installing this device involves high-voltage connections and requires the intervention of a qualified electrician. Special care must be taken when handling the current transformer (CT), whose wires must never be opened during operation to avoid lethal voltages.
