Detailed description
Detailed description
The MOB+ MULTI FOB PACK by Fell Marine, part number FM-72-380-116, is a wireless safety system designed for navigation. It combines an xHUB switch and an xFOB sensor, providing a reliable engine kill-switch solution in the event of a man-overboard situation. The system operates on a voltage range of 10 to 30 Vdc, with a minimum voltage of 7 V and a maximum of 32 Vdc, and requires a recommended fuse of 1 to 3 A.
xHUB switch features
The xHUB unit is equipped with a double-pole, double-throw relay, enabling integration into any circuit to turn a device on or off, replacing the traditional kill-switch function. This versatility ensures broad compatibility with various propulsion systems. Wireless connectivity simplifies installation and use, eliminating the constraints of physical cables for safety activation.
Integration and power supply
The xHUB system can be powered directly via an existing NMEA or NMEA 2000 system, provided sufficient power is available. For optimal installation, watertight connections are essential, using heat-shrink tubing or similar methods. A 20 AWG (0.75 mm²) wire gauge is recommended for power connections. The system supports a maximum continuous switch current of 0.4 A.
Safety with the xFOB sensor
The xFOB sensor, worn by the user, communicates wirelessly with the xHUB unit. In the event of a man-overboard situation, the system automatically activates the kill-switch function, stopping the boat’s engine to prevent risk. It is imperative to test the kill-switch function after installation to verify its proper operation in an emergency. The pack includes a boat WiMEA unit, an external antenna, an adjustable wristband, a WiMEA MOB unit, a connection cable, a battery, and splicing ends.
