Detailed description
Detailed description
The FURUNO B54 transducer is a compact through-hull bronze transducer designed to operate with the Furuno DFF3D multibeam sonar system. This transducer provides data for underwater imaging and information gathering, integrating technologies for temperature measurement and display stabilization.
Performance and Technical Specifications
Operating at a frequency of 165 kHz, the FURUNO B54 offers a lateral beam width of 120° (port-starboard), enabling a selectable longitudinal beam width of 10° for the DFF3D. This configuration provides a complete view of the underwater environment, essential for the DFF3D system. Its nominal power is 1000 W, allowing a maximum depth of approximately 300 meters (985 feet).
Design and Installation
The B54 transducer housing is made of bronze, a material chosen for its durability and resistance to corrosion in marine environments. It integrates a motion sensor that helps stabilize the displayed image, even in rough sea conditions, as well as a temperature sensor for accurate readings. The transducer comes with two 10-meter cables: a bare cable for connection to the DFF3D sonar and a 7-pin connector cable for the motion sensor. A high-speed fairing shoe is included to optimize water flow, but the transducer can also be flush-mounted directly in the keel without this shoe, offering installation flexibility.
