Detailed description
Detailed description
The FURUNO IF-NMEA2K2 bidirectional interface is designed to ensure smooth data conversion between NMEA 2000 (CAN bus) and NMEA 0183 networks. This opto-isolated interface prevents ground loops and ensures reliable communication between instruments, whether old or modern.
Integration and performance
This bidirectional interface converts data from NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 format, and vice versa. It features four configurable operating modes, selectable by simple wire cutting: Normal mode at 4800bps for standard navigation data, High Speed mode at 38400bps for autopilot sensor data, AIS mode at 38400bps for AIS information, and Zeus mode at 4800bps which generates RMB sentences from specific CAN bus PGNs (129283 and 129284).
Technical specifications
The IF-NMEA2K2 is powered by the Furuno CAN bus line (input voltage 15-30V DC, or 9-16V DC for older versions with black connector). Its compact housing (235 x 40 x 21.5 mm) and weight of 0.40 kg make installation easy. The product meets IP55 waterproofing standards, though the NMEA 0183 cable terminal is not waterproof and must be protected from splashes. It is equipped with a Micro-C NMEA 2000 connector and provides one NMEA 0183 input/output. This product is manufactured in Japan.
