Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for general cabin lighting, the Garmin ECLIPSE DL55 dual-color (blue and white) downlight is a versatile marine LED solution. Intended for boats operating on 12V, it operates within a 10 to 15V DC range with a maximum current draw of 0.4A at 12V and an average power consumption of 4.8W. This model stands out for its ability to provide dual-color lighting, allowing switching between blue and white to adapt to ambiance or navigation conditions.
Design and Installation
The ECLIPSE DL55 features two 3W blue LEDs and two 3W white LEDs (5000K), delivering an ultra-wide beam for optimal coverage. Its robust construction includes an aluminum body with electrophoretic and thermo-lacquered coating, along with a glass front, ensuring durability in marine environments. Rated IP68, it is fully dust- and waterproof, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor installations in damp areas, though not designed for permanent submersion.
Installation of this downlight is simplified with a 2-wire wiring system. With a shallow 21.2mm flush-mount profile and a 50.8mm (2-inch) cutout diameter, it fits easily into tight spaces. Mounting is done on a flat surface, either using spring clips for indoor installations or marine-grade adhesive/sealant for exposed areas. Control can be via a simple on/off switch or, for advanced features, by connecting to an ECLIPSE Command Center, enabling management from a compatible multifunction display (MFD) or smart device. Unlike other marine lighting systems, it is not compatible with third-party controllers or unspecified dimmers.
Positioning in the Garmin ECLIPSE Range
The DL55 is part of Garmin’s ECLIPSE range (formerly Lumishore), a series dedicated to marine lighting. While other models such as the 60-0483 (white light only) or 60-0481 (blue light only) offer single-color options, the DL55 provides dual-color flexibility. It positions itself as an intermediate option compared to the White + RGB versions (60-0570), offering a balance between functionality and ease of integration for basic or evolving lighting needs via the Command Center. The 3-year warranty attests to its standing in the reliable marine equipment market.
