Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for offshore sailing and fishing, the Garmin GMR 2536 xHD3 radar is an open-array system with 25 kW output. It provides advanced target detection for weather conditions, obstacles, or marine traffic, with a range from 20 meters to 96 nautical miles. Its 6-foot (183 cm) antenna and 1.1-degree horizontal beam width deliver clear, detailed image resolution.
Advanced detection technologies
The GMR 2536 xHD3 incorporates Scan Averaging technology, a first for Garmin magnetron radars, which filters sea clutter and interference to improve target detection. The target size angular adjustment feature uses pulse expansion and angular size processing to optimize object shape on screen, aiding interpretation across all range scales. Rotation speeds of 24 and 48 RPM ensure rapid display refresh.
Safety and performance features
For enhanced situational awareness, the radar offers True Echo Trails to display a history of boat tracks, helping identify moving targets and collision risks. Dual Range with Overlay allows a split-screen display with independent range settings for near and far targets, which can be overlaid on the chart. Dynamic Auto Gain and Dynamic Sea Filter automatically adjust the radar to environmental conditions. Features like Auto Bird Gain help locate birds, indicators of fish schools. The MARPA target tracking can manage up to 30 targets (with additional sensors) and a Guard Zone alerts to intrusions.
Integration and durability
With a 10–32 Vdc input and 18 W standby / 70 W normal transmission power draw, this radar is built for marine installations. Its IPX6 rating ensures resistance to powerful water jets. It also features commercial-grade 100-knot wind resistance, enabled by the included voltage converter. The pedestal measures 520 x 328 x 314 mm and the 6-foot antenna 1938 x 122 x 170 mm, for a combined weight of approximately 30.4 kg.
