The black housing (GTB 10) must be mounted in a location that meets the following conditions:

Not exposed to extreme temperatures or conditions.Not submerged.With adequate ventilation.At least 102 mm (4 in) away from cables and other potential interference sources.With sufficient space for routing and connecting all cables.Connectors must face upward on a horizontal surface or outward on a vertical surface. Do not install it with connectors facing downward or toward the mounting surface, as the internal GPS antenna will not function properly in that orientation.

After mounting the device, you must orient both antennas toward the sky for optimal reception. If the device is installed on a vertical surface (such as a bulkhead), the antennas must be installed parallel to the black housing. If the device is installed on a horizontal surface, the antennas must be installed perpendicular to the black housing.

To ensure a watertight connection, tighten the antenna nut to 0.56 N·m (5 lbf·in), which is a hand-tight plus an additional 45-degree turn.

For optimal internal GPS reception, the device must be mounted in a location above the waterline when the boat is in the water and, if possible, have a clear view of the sky.

If you mount the device on a boat with a metal hull, or if the internal GPS antenna is blocked or improperly oriented, you will need to connect an external GPS antenna (sold separately).

The power cable must be connected directly to the battery: the red wire to the positive terminal (+) and the black wire to the negative terminal (-). It is imperative not to remove the integrated fuse holder (7.5 A, 42 V fast-acting).
