Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin LUX SMX154 set is a complete underwater marine lighting solution designed for vessels requiring versatile and integrated illumination. The system includes two SMX154 underwater lights, an EOS hub, an EOS-LUX control unit (Lumi-Link), and a dedicated Lumishore display, providing centralized control and advanced lighting options.
SMX154 Underwater Lights: Performance and Durability
Each SMX154 underwater light features 16 red 3 W LEDs, 12 green 3 W LEDs, 12 blue 3 W LEDs, and 12 white 10 W LEDs, delivering 7,000 lumens with a 90° beam angle. This configuration provides wide and powerful illumination. The lights offer full RGB color options with white (6500K), as well as single and dual-color modes. Constructed from marine bronze with a borosilicate glass lens and IP68 rating, they are resistant to marine environments. Installation is surface-mounted using three included marine bronze screws. Operation is compatible with 12 V/24 V DC power, with a maximum consumption of 4 A per light at 12 V and 2 A at 24 V.
Lumi-Link Control Unit: Integration and Flexibility
The system’s core, the Lumi-Link control unit (part number 60-0366), is IP67-rated and operates on a 10.5 to 31 V DC supply, with a maximum consumption of 0.2 A at 12 V and 0.1 A at 24 V. It enables full RGB spectrum control and adjustable white color temperature (2700K to 6500K). It includes fully configurable zone control, customizable lighting scenes, and Lumi-Link compatibility for control via certified MFD or the included Lumi-Link display. It supports Garmin (OneHelm), Raymarine (Axiom), Navico (Simrad NSO EVO3/EVO2, NSS EVO3/Go, B&G Zeus3/Vulcan), and Furuno (Navnet TZ Touch 3) MFDs. Control is also possible via Wi-Fi from a connected device. Installation is simplified with plug-and-play connections and over-the-air software updates.
System Architecture and Features
This set includes an EOS hub (IP68) and a dedicated Lumishore display (IP68), contributing to the system’s robustness and ease of use. Average total power consumption is 103 W. The system is protected against reverse polarity and load dump surges, and is certified to ISO 8846 for ignition protection. It supports features such as light synchronization, color cycling (Spectrum, Ice, Sunset, Miami), color sweep, fixed or strobe modes, and the "Sound to Light" function. The system allows light discovery and configuration, brightness adjustment, and diagnostics. The kit is backed by a 3-year warranty, ensuring a reliable underwater lighting solution. The system can be expanded by connecting up to four hubs and using Lumishore extension cables for lights and power.
