You must install the transducer as close as possible to the center of the boat, ensuring it is away from turbulence zones created by propellers, seams, fittings, water intakes, or discharges. For single-engine hulls, do not install it in the propeller’s path. For twin-engine hulls, install it between the two engines if possible. It must be at least 38 cm (15 in) from the propeller and on the side opposite to the propeller’s rotation direction to avoid propeller wash.

Position the mount so that the bottom center of the transducer is level with the bottom edge of the transom and parallel to the waterline. Mark the positions of the two outer holes. Wrap tape around a 4 mm (5/32 in) drill bit 25 mm (1 in) from the tip to prevent drilling too deep. On fiberglass, place tape over the hole locations to reduce gelcoat cracking. Then drill pilot holes to a depth of approximately 25 mm (1 in).
