Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed to deliver detailed underwater imagery, the Garmin plastic through-hull transducer 500W (77/200kHz) + temperature (4-pin) is a versatile solution for navigation and fishing. This transom-mounted transducer combines traditional sonar and ClearVü/DownVü scanning capabilities, all integrated with a fast-response temperature sensor. With 500 W of power for traditional sonar and ClearVü, it is compatible with many Garmin chartplotters via its 4-pin connector.
Sonar Performance
The Garmin 010-10249-20 transducer operates at 77/200 kHz for traditional sonar, allowing maximum depths of 579 meters (1,900 feet). For ClearVü/DownVü scanning, it uses CHIRP technology at 455 kHz (435–475 kHz) and 800 kHz (800–840 kHz), providing clear images of structure and fish down to 229 meters (750 feet). ClearVü beam widths are 2.5°×53° at 455 kHz and 1.6°×29° at 800 kHz, ensuring detailed coverage beneath the vessel.
Installation and Compatibility
This transducer is specifically designed for transom mounting, though the kit also includes hardware for electric motor mounting. It is suitable for all hull materials and supports a transom angle of 0° to 70°. For optimal results, it is recommended for speeds under 34 mph and must be installed away from turbulence. Unlike thru-hull transducers that require hull penetration and are often installed by professionals for optimal high-speed performance, this transom transducer offers simplified installation. It also differs from in-hull transducers, which, while not requiring a hole in the hull, can reduce signal power and are primarily recommended for solid fiberglass hulls. The Garmin 010-10249-20 transducer strikes a balance between performance and ease of installation for recreational and coastal fishing vessels.
