With a switchable output power of 6W or 1W, the IC-M37E outperforms many handheld VHF radios on the market, which are often limited to 5W. The unit is powered by a 3.6V, 2350mAh (typical) BP-296 lithium-ion battery, providing approximately 12 hours of battery life under standard usage (5:5:90 duty cycle). Clear audio is ensured by a built-in 700mW speaker, guaranteeing audible reception even in noisy environments such as a windy cockpit or near an engine.

Robust design for the marine environment

The IC-M37E is built to withstand the toughest conditions. IP57 certified, it's dustproof and can be submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes. Its Float'n Flash feature makes it easy to spot if it falls into the water: it floats and an LED indicator starts flashing. To drain water from the speaker and restore optimal audio clarity after immersion, the AquaQuake function is also integrated.
