Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for demanding marine environments, the JL Audio MV400/4i amplifier is a 4-channel Class D model integrating second-generation NexD2™ technology. It delivers reference-grade audio amplification with significant energy efficiency while incorporating advanced digital processing power.
Audio Performance and Digital Processing
The MV400/4i provides continuous RMS power of 75 watts x 4 at 4 ohms or 100 watts x 4 at 2 ohms at 14.4V. In bridged mode, it reaches 200 watts x 2 at 4 ohms, for a total power of 400 watts. It features an integrated 24-bit 96 kHz digital signal processor (DSP), replacing traditional analog settings with software configuration. The frequency response is 12 Hz to 24 kHz (+0, -1dB), with a signal-to-noise ratio of 99 dB (A-weighted, referenced to highest rated power, analog inputs) and total harmonic distortion (THD+N) below 1% at rated power. Input sensitivity is 250mV to 16V for analog inputs, with a minimum impedance of 2 ohms unbridged and 4 ohms bridged.
Configuration and Advanced Features
All amplifier and DSP features are configurable via the JL Audio TüN™ app on an external device (PC, tablet, or smartphone) connected via USB cable or via the Bluetooth® option (with VXi-BTC). The DSP includes input routing and mixing, gain settings with clipping indication, adjustable high-pass, low-pass, and band-pass filters (slopes from 6 to 48 dB/octave), a 10-band equalizer (graphic or parametric), phase and polarity control, and time alignment in 0.02 ms increments. The differential balanced inputs accept signal levels up to 16V RMS, ensuring excellent noise rejection. Auto turn-on is managed by DC offset or signal detection.
Marine Design and Installation
The MV400/4i amplifier features a compact die-cast alloy chassis with marine-grade epoxy finish, corrosion-resistant fasteners, and connectors. It carries an IPX2 water resistance rating, meaning it can withstand indirect splashes when mounted vertically with connections facing downward. Dimensions are 52 mm (height), 285 mm (width), and 176 mm (depth), with a weight of 2.27 kg. Electrical connection requires a minimum 4 AWG power cable. It also includes configurable input/output (4 preamp/speaker inputs and 4 analog preamp outputs at 4V RMS) and JLid™ connectivity for optional accessories (such as Network Hub, Bluetooth Communicator, or digital remote control).
