Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for marine environments, the JL Audio M6-10IB-L-SbSb-4 marine subwoofer is a 10-inch (250 mm) speaker optimized for infinite baffle applications. It delivers continuous power handling of 250 Watts RMS and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, with an efficiency of 86.1 dB SPL (1W/1m). Its design features a linear excursion (Xmax) of 13.2 mm (0.52 inches).
Design and Acoustic Performance
This subwoofer integrates a long-excursion design with optimized motor and suspension systems for high sound output and minimized distortion. The cone is made of polypropylene injection-molded with mica, and the surround is foam, ensuring precise and powerful bass reproduction. The DMA (Dynamic Motor Analysis) technology contributes to improved transient performance and smooth, accurate bass delivery. The free-air resonance (Fs) is 43.76 Hz, with a Qes of 0.907 and a Qts of 0.840.
Installation and Marine Durability
The M6-10IB-L-SbSb-4 is specifically designed for infinite baffle installation, requiring no dedicated enclosure but a large air volume behind the speaker (at least 56.6 liters / 2.00 cubic feet). It can also be used with sealed enclosures of 56.6 liters or vented enclosures of 70.8 liters. Its low-profile design with a flush-mount black Luxe grille minimizes visual and physical footprint. With a mounting depth of 177 mm (6.98 inches), a cutout diameter of 268 mm (10.5625 inches), and an overall diameter of 273 mm (10.75 inches), it is suitable for various integrations. This subwoofer is built to exceed industrial standards for salt fog and UV exposure, ensuring durability in marine environments. Its net weight is 6.0 kg (13.2 lbs). Production of these M6 speakers is carried out at JL Audio’s factory in Miramar, Florida, using global components and materials.
