Detailed description
Detailed description
The Navico B744VC (part number 000-15470-001) active insert is a replacement part designed for the Airmar B744V/VC TRIDUCER® Multisensor through-hull transducer. This insert restores the speed and temperature sensor functions of the transducer, providing a targeted maintenance solution without requiring full unit replacement. It integrates into the existing housing of the Airmar B744V/VC transducer, which already combines depth, speed, and temperature functions in a single unit.
Parent transducer integration and performance
The Airmar B744V/VC transducer, for which this insert is intended, is a 600 W model operating on dual frequencies of 50 kHz and 200 kHz. It offers a beam width of 45° at 50 kHz and 12° at 200 kHz, with a maximum depth detection capability of 366 m (1200') at 50 kHz and 213 m (700') at 200 kHz. Its bronze housing is compatible with fiberglass or wooden hulls and is recommended for vessels up to 9 m (30') in length. The through-hull installation with a high-performance fairing ensures optimal bottom tracking and clear images up to 30 knots (34 MPH).
Maintenance ease
A key advantage of the B744V/VC transducer is its retractable housing with a patented self-sealing valve. This feature minimizes water entry into the hull when the insert is removed for cleaning or replacement, as is the case with this B744VC active insert. It allows intervention on speed and temperature sensors without hauling the boat out of the water. The active insert includes a cable that must be connected to the existing transducer cable using a provided junction box. Installation requires ensuring all O-rings are intact and properly lubricated to guarantee a perfect seal.
