Detailed description
Detailed description
The through-hull XSONIC Airmar B60 (12°) is a 600 W depth and water temperature sounder designed to deliver accurate data. Suitable for a wide range of recreational vessels and fishing boats, it features Airmar’s Tilted Element™ technology to optimize sonar beam orientation.
Tilted Element™ technology for optimized performance
The B60 (12°) features an internal 12° tilted ceramic element housed in a bronze casing. This design compensates for hull deadrise angle at the mounting point, ensuring the sonar beam is projected vertically toward the seabed. It is specifically suited for hulls with a deadrise angle between 8° and 15°, providing more reliable depth readings and clearer sonar images, even at high speeds. Its low profile, protruding only 5 mm from the hull, minimizes drag and does not affect boat performance.
Dual-frequency sonar performance
With 600 W power and dual-frequency capability (50/200 kHz), this sounder offers versatility across various conditions. The 50 kHz frequency provides deeper penetration and wider coverage (45° beam angle), reaching up to 366 m (1,200 ft). The 200 kHz frequency, with its narrower 12° beam angle, delivers high resolution and finer detail in shallower waters, with a maximum range of 213 m (700 ft). These capabilities make it suitable for detecting structures and fish.
Installation and compatibility
The B60 (12°) bronze housing is recommended for fiberglass or wooden hulls. Installation requires a 60 mm (2-3/8") diameter hole. The sounder comes with a 10 m (33 ft) cable and a Navico 9-pin XSONIC connector, ensuring compatibility with Navico marine electronics systems. It weighs 1.4 kg (3 lb) and features a urethane acoustic window. The sounder is also compatible with Airmar’s Foulfree and Propspeed coatings, which prevent marine growth without affecting performance.
