Detailed description
Detailed description
The Raymarine E12093 upgrade kit is designed for Raymarine ST4000 autopilot system owners looking to modernize their power unit. This kit replaces the old unit with a Mk II drive, integrating the technology of Raymarine’s Evolution autopilot range. It provides a solution to extend the lifespan of existing ST4000 systems by improving the performance of the rudder control unit.
Compatibility and Technical Specifications
The drive wheel unit included in this kit is compatible with wheels featuring 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 spokes. It is designed to operate with steering systems having 1 to 3.5 turns lock-to-lock. The unit has a front cover diameter of 228 mm (9.0 in) and an overall diameter of 361 mm (14.2 in). Its height is 135 mm (5.3 in), with a motor shaft diameter of 48 mm (1.9 in) and a length of 171 mm (6.7 in), requiring an additional 60 mm (2.4 in) clearance for the cable. This unit integrates with the existing ST4000 autopilot controller, offering a targeted upgrade rather than a full system replacement.
Installation and Kit Contents
Installing the drive wheel unit involves securing it to the wheel using the pre-drilled spoke clamping holes in the front cover and connecting it to the existing control unit. The E12093 kit includes the drive wheel unit itself, a pedestal bracket, three 16 mm and three 12 mm spoke clamping inserts, three spoke clamps, six M5 x 16 mm clamping screws, four #10 x 3/4 in support screws, 6 mm and 4 mm drill bits, a 3 mm Allen key, two ball joints, a tiller pin, three #8 x 3/4 in cheese-head screws, a stud, two nuts, two #8 x 3/4 in countersunk screws, a 4.5 m (15 ft) power cable, a cable clip and a #6 x 1/2 in screw, and a rudder angle sensor if originally included. An optional pedestal/bulkhead mounting kit (E15017) may be required depending on the setup.
