Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed specifically for sailboats, the Raymarine P70s colour autopilot control head (E70328) provides a dedicated and intuitive interface for managing your autopilot. This 3.5-inch display features a colour screen that ensures optimal readability in all navigation conditions.
Connectivity and Power
The P70s connects via the SeaTalk NG network, NMEA 2000 compatible, ensuring seamless integration with existing Raymarine navigation systems. It operates on 12V DC power, with an operational voltage range of 10.8V to 16V DC. Its power consumption is 1.57 W (131 mA), optimized for embedded systems.
Durability and Marine Environment
This control head is built to withstand demanding marine environments, with IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof certification. It supports operating temperatures from –20°C to 55°C and storage temperatures from –30°C to 70°C, with a maximum relative humidity of 93%. Its weight of 0.795 kg makes installation straightforward on various mounts.
Sailboat Navigation Features
The P70s offers sailing-specific control modes, including AutoTack for automatic tacking and Wind Vane mode for wind-based steering. It displays critical data such as laylines and VMG (Velocity Made Good) to help optimize sail performance. Autopilot response settings are configurable (e.g., "Leisure" mode for long passages). The control head also provides multiple colour schemes (Day 1, Day 2, Reverse, Red/Black) and shared brightness control to adapt to lighting conditions.
Configuration and System Diagnostics
Autopilot configuration is simplified by a commissioning assistant. The control head manages Multiple Data Sources (MDS) for identical data types on the network. Linearization is required during initial EV unit installation or after a reset, with a progress bar to track completion. Built-in diagnostic functions help identify power, wiring, or software communication issues on the SeaTalk NG network.
