Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for Raymarine autopilot systems, the Raymarine T2-24V (M81137) rotary drive is a Type 2 solution for sailboats equipped with chain-and-pinion steering systems. This model is compatible with cable and rod steering, providing precise and responsive rudder control. It stands out with its ability to handle a maximum boat displacement of 20,000 kg (44,000 lb), making it suitable for larger vessels. Compared to the Type 1 (M81135, 12V), which handles 10,000 kg with 20 Nm of torque, and the Type 2 12V (M81136), which offers similar displacement capabilities but under 12V, the M81137 is distinguished by its 24V power supply and 34 Nm output torque.
Performance and technical design
The Raymarine T2-24V drive integrates a robust electric motor, a precision planetary gearbox, and a high-strength drive belt. Its electromagnetic clutch is designed to transmit high torque loads without slippage, ensuring stable steering. With a maximum shaft speed of 33 rpm and a recommended time from hard-over to hard-over of 10 seconds (unloaded), it offers responsiveness suited for navigation. Its average power consumption ranges from 72 to 120 W at 24V. The unit dimensions are 274 mm in length, 195 mm in height, with a mounting length of 256 mm and a mounting foot of 60 x 60 mm.
Installation and compliance
The unit is protected for use in engine compartments and complies with CE directives (89/336/EC EMC and 94/25/EC RCD), meeting EN60945:1997 and EN28846:1993 standards. Installation can be done on a vertical or horizontal surface, with the mounting foot rotatable by 90 degrees to adapt to available space. The steering direction can be corrected by reversing the polarity of the motor connections to the course computer. The product is supplied with the rotary drive, a mounting foot, and three shims. Stainless steel M12 mounting bolts, pinions, a chain, and suitable electrical connectors are required for a complete installation.
