Detailed description
Detailed description
The Phoenix 24/250 230V Inverter from Victron Energy is a reliable power supply solution designed to convert 24 V DC into pure sine wave 230 V AC. This model, part of the Phoenix VE.Direct range, is one of the most compact, delivering a continuous power output of 200 W (250 VA at 25 °C) and a peak power of 400 W. It stands out as an efficient option for moderate power needs on board, differing from higher-power models in the same series (such as the 24/1200) with its reduced size and weight while maintaining Victron’s output quality.
Pure sine wave conversion and efficiency
The Phoenix 24/250 230V Inverter features SinusMax technology, ensuring a pure sine wave output essential for sensitive electronic equipment. Its full-bridge architecture with toroidal transformer delivers a maximum efficiency of 88 % and long-term reliability. This design also provides high start-up capability, enabling it to power inductive loads such as certain power tools or LED lamp transformers. It thus offers a dedicated alternative to more complex systems like MultiPlus or Quattro, which integrate charger and transfer switch functions.
Advanced connectivity and configuration
Equipped with a VE.Direct port, this inverter offers comprehensive monitoring and configuration capabilities. It can be connected to a computer via a VE.Direct-USB interface cable or to mobile devices (smartphones, tablets) using an optional VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle. This interface allows customization of key parameters such as battery low-voltage alarm and cut-off thresholds, output voltage and frequency (210–245 V, 50 or 60 Hz), and ECO mode settings. This configuration flexibility is a significant advantage over inverters without a digital interface.
ECO mode and built-in protections
To optimize energy consumption, the Victron Energy Phoenix 24/250 230V Inverter includes an ECO mode. This mode puts the inverter into standby when the load drops below a predefined threshold (minimum 15 W) and reactivates it automatically when demand increases, with a default retry interval of 2.5 seconds. The device is protected against output short circuits, overloads, excessively high (input voltage range for the 24 V model: 18.4 to 34.0 V) or low battery voltages (dynamic cut-off), and excessive temperatures (-40 to +65 °C with power derating above 25 °C), ensuring safety and durability of the installation. Its 2.4 kg weight and dimensions of 86 x 165 x 260 mm facilitate integration in various environments.
