Designed as the most comprehensive Battery Management System (BMS) for Victron Lithium Battery Smart batteries, the Lynx Smart BMS 1000A, M10 from Victron Energy provides advanced energy management and essential protection. This module integrates within the Lynx Distributor system, offering a centralized solution for marine and off-grid installations requiring high current capacity. It is available in 500 A and 1000 A versions, with the latter being the model presented here, designed for demanding configurations.
Built-in Capabilities and Safety
The Lynx Smart BMS 1000A integrates a main 1000 A continuous contactor (1200 A peak for 5 minutes) that serves as a secondary safety mechanism to protect the battery in case of primary control failure. This contactor also functions as a remotely controllable main system switch. An integrated pre-charge circuit prevents high inrush currents when connecting capacitive loads such as MultiPlus or Quattro MultiPlus/Quattro inverters-chargers, eliminating the need for an external pre-charge circuit. The system supports 12 V, 24 V, or 48 V voltages and can manage up to 20 Victron Lithium Battery Smart batteries, enabling a maximum energy storage capacity of 84 kWh at 12 V and up to 102 kWh at 24 V or 48 V.
Monitoring and System Integration
Monitoring and control of the Lynx Smart BMS is performed via Bluetooth with the VictronConnect app or via a GX device such as the Cerbo GX, with access to the VRM portal. An integrated battery monitor provides real-time data such as state of charge, voltage, current, and history. The Instant Readout feature enables quick diagnostics without an active connection. The system supports DVCC closed-loop control for compatible Victron solar chargers and inverters/chargers, as well as ATC/ATD contacts for managing external loads and chargers. A programmable relay offers alarm or alternator control functions. Communication is via VE.Can (RJ45) and NMEA 2000, facilitating integration into marine networks and data display on compatible MFDs. The module also monitors up to four connected Lynx Distributors and their fuses, providing full system visibility. For increased robustness, the parallel redundancy function allows up to five Lynx Smart BMS units to be connected to form a single redundant battery system. The ABS enclosure and tinned copper busbars are designed for use in demanding environments, with IP22 protection class and an operating temperature range from -40 °C to +60 °C.
